HealthPartners VP named CEO of CentraCare Health

Pladson to retire Dec. 31

St. Cloud, Minn. - Kenneth D. Holmen, M.D., has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of CentraCare Health, effective Jan. 1, 2015.

Dr. Holmen has been Vice President of Physician Strategies and Business Development for HealthPartners, headquartered in Bloomington, Minn., since 2004. During that time, he also was Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for Medical Affairs – Regions Hospital.

Dr. Holmen will replace Dr. Terry Pladson, who will retire Dec. 31 after 12 years as CentraCare Health’s top executive. Pladson previously was President of the St. Cloud Clinic of Internal Medicine from 1990 until the clinic merged with St. Cloud Hospital to form CentraCare Health System in 1995. Pladson then became President of CentraCare Clinic and Co-President of CentraCare Health System with St. Cloud Hospital President John Frobenius until December 2002.

“I look forward to working with Dr. Holmen during the upcoming transition period,” Pladson said. “I am confident that CentraCare Health has a strong new President and CEO to lead the organization into the future.”

“CentraCare has a rich legacy in Central Minnesota, and I look forward to leading that great organization and working with the communities that CentraCare serves,” Dr. Holmen said.

“Dr. Holmen has a great deal of experience as a health care senior executive,” said Gene Windfeldt, chair of the CentraCare Health Board of Directors. “He will be a tremendous asset in CentraCare’s efforts to achieve our vision of being the leader in Minnesota for quality, safety, service and value.”
