Dr. David Kroska Receives 2015 Caduceus Award

St. Cloud, Minn. – CentraCare Clinic Obstetrician/Gynecologist David Kroska, MD, will be honored April 29 with the Caduceus Award. This annual award, presented by the Caduceus Society, recognizes the outstanding work of Central Minnesota physicians who exhibit humanitarian medical efforts locally or around the world.

Dr. Kroska has been a physician in the St. Cloud area for 34 years and founded the L.I.F.E. (Lifestyle, Food & Exercise) Program in 2006. Thanks to Dr. Kroska’s leadership and commitment, the L.I.F.E. Program continues to provide extensive education on diet, exercise and nutrition, as well as practical and behavioral aspects of a healthy lifestyle. According to Dr. Kroska, he sees this program as the future of medicine. “The L.I.F.E. Program helps participants improve their health, prevent disease and extend their lifespan. This contributes to overall community health and wellness.” As a result of his work with the L.I.F.E. Program, he was the 2012 recipient of the Central Minnesota Sustainability Award, among other accolades. Professionally, he has served in numerous leadership positions with CentraCare Health, including serving as chair of OB/GYN and Perinatal departments.

According to CentraCare Clinic Obstetrician/Gynecologist Stacia Anderson, MD, “it is not surprising that Dr. Kroska has won this year’s Caduceus award. He is an important member and leader of our CentraCare OB/GYN team. He directs our Reproductive Medicine program and as part of that has developed CentraCare’s L.I.F.E. program. He is a thoughtful, genuine and truly caring person. He knows everything from Polish, to ACME tomatoes, to DaVinci surgery to the safe delivery of babies. We all benefit and learn from working with him.”

Dr. Kroska participates in charitable medical efforts, such as medical aid trips to Guatemala, and is passionate about community wellness and sustainability efforts. He is a long-time organic gardener and enjoys growing a variety of plants including tomatoes, peppers and eggplant.

He has presented to local parishes on lifestyle and wellness topics and is a merit badge counselor with the Boy Scouts. He also is involved with the Avon Hills Initiative, which has a focus on land conservation and renewability.
