Advance Practice Nurses
St. Cloud Hospital provides clinical experiences for advanced practice nursing students from accredited Master’s programs. Arrangements are made with individual APRNs. See below for details about advance practice experiences, which are available only for nursing students in Master’s programs.
CNS Children with Craniofacial Differences
Responsible for the development, organization and operation of the program for children cranial/facial differences. Functions as an APRN with families and their children with craniofacial differences. Incorporates the function of practitioner, consultant, educator, researcher, and coordinator into the cleft craniofacial clinical nurse specialist role. Pediatric care, family centered nursing, and families with grief are focal areas for this advanced practice role. Would be willing to precept APRN students interested in pediatrics, family centered care, and families with grief.

CNS Education and Professional Development
Responsible for the ongoing development and facilitation of programs to recruit, retain and develop professionalism and critical thinking in newly graduated Registered Nurses. Serves as a consultant to leadership and clinical staff to enhance staff orientation and education for all levels of patient care staff. Functions in the role of educator and consultant.

Educator: Perioperative Care
Responsible for the ongoing development and facilitation of programs to support staff development in Perioperative Care (Surgery, Anesthesia and Sterile Processing). Serves as a consultant to leadership staff and clinical staff to enhance staff orientation and education for all levels of patient care staff in these services. Applied Psychology/Chemical Dependency Emphasis Undergraduate
St. Cloud Hospital Recovery Plus offers unpaid internships for undergraduate students who are completing a chemical dependency licensure preparation course. The student must have chemical dependency as an emphasis and an instructor must confirm that the student has completed the required coursework. You will be required to send a cover letter and resume to the contact person who will arrange an interview. Internships are granted on a competitive basis. Early application before the semester in which the internship is desired is encouraged.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Internships
The Central Minnesota Heart Center offers internships to exercise physiology majors at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The candidate MUST have had an education track or emphasis in cardiac rehabilitation. This is an unpaid internship and length is dependent on school’s requirement.

Clinical Pastoral Education
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is an inter-faith professional education for ministry. It brings theological students and ministers of all faiths into supervised encounter with people in crisis. The essential elements of CPE include:
· The actual practice of ministry to people
· Detailed reporting and evaluation of that practice
· Pastoral supervision
· A process conception of learning
· A theoretical perspective on all elements of the program
· A small group of peers in a common learning experience
· 400 hours for one unit of CPE
· An individual contract for learning
Pastoral reflection, pastoral formation, and pastoral competence are stressed in the student’s learning activities. CPE serves as a part of preparation for parish ministry, chaplaincy, lay ministry, teaching and counseling.

Communication/Public Relations Internships
The CentraCare Health System Communications Department offers ongoing unpaid internships. The interns will work on a wide variety of projects, including: writing media releases; writing copy for St. Cloud Hospital and CentraCare Health System publications; creating fliers, posters and displays; assisting with special events; performing some clerical duties; completing special projects as assigned.
A minimum 20-hour-per-week commitment is required. Work hours are generally between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, with specific hours to be arranged with successful candidates. Interns may be asked to work occasional evenings or weekend hours to assist with special events. Specific start and end dates will be negotiated.

Dietician Clinicals
Shadow Experience
College students pursuing a career in the field of dietetics may be accepted for an 8 to 24 hour shadow experience to allow observation of inpatient clinical dietitians.
Internship Programs
St. Cloud Hospital provides clinical experiences for coordinated undergraduate and internship programs from accredited Universities and Distant Internship Programs. Interns will work with inpatient dietitians in a variety of inpatient settings. Please call the contact person to discuss potential internship openings. It is preferable to call at least 6 months ahead of the internship start date. The contact person will set up the internship schedule based on the requirements of the course.

Gerontology Internships/Field work experience
Internships/field work experiences are available to those undergraduate and graduate students completing degrees in Gerontology. Students will have opportunities to work in geriatrics in the behavioral health field. Duties may include group work, case management and knowledge about older adults suffering from chemical dependency and mental health concerns.

You must call the contact person to discuss the internship openings. It is preferable to call at least one semester ahead of the internship. The St. Cloud Hospital Human Resources Department offers unpaid internships that generally coincide with semester schedules (fall, spring and summer). The student must have Human Resources, Labor Relations or closely related fields as their declared major. The student will gain experience in the areas of recruitment, benefits and compensation. Internships are posted online when available, and applications must be submitted online.

Information Media Internships/Class Projects
The St. Cloud Hospital Leadership Development Program offers unpaid internships/class projects for graduate and undergraduate students who are completing a degree in human resources training and development. Opportunities include needs assessment and course development in specified areas in our Leadership Development Program. Marketing Internship
The CentraCare Health System Marketing Department offers one paid internship beginning each May or June. The internship may run 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, depending on the student's situation. Interviews are usually conducted in November; the position is typically filled by January for the upcoming summer. Duties vary dependent on marketing projects and background. Marketing course work is required.

To do a clinical rotation with a physician or physician assistant, the Medical Staff Office must have an affiliation agreement with the medical school/program you are attending. Contact the Medical Staff Office to obtain a Rotation Application packet, which includes proof of a recent mantoux, signed confidentiality statement and other general information. You will be required to contact the physician or physician assistant directly to arrange a rotation schedule. Due to provider schedules, opportunities are very limited.

Psychology Undergraduate Internship
The Behavioral Health Clinic offers unpaid internships for undergraduate students who are completing a college major in psychology. Preference is given to students who are planning to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology upon completion of their undergraduate degree. Coursework in abnormal psychology or psychological disorders is required. Coursework in research methods is preferred. Internships are granted on a competitive basis, and all applicants are asked to send a cover letter and resume to the internship supervisor at least 3 months prior to the semester in which the internship is desired.

Social Work Internships
Social work students are accepted for internships year round in all areas that St. Cloud Hospital social workers practice, including Dialysis, Adult and Adolescent Mental Health, Med/Surg, the Emergency Trauma Center and Parent/Child/Women. Journey Home, which is a half way house for chemically dependent women and their children, also takes social work interns. Senior Helping Hands, a community outreach program working with older adults experiencing chemical dependency and mental health concerns takes social workers as well.
The internship is arranged through contact with the designated social worker contact. There must be an involved social and a current contractual arrangement will be required or required to be updated. Offering social work internship opportunities is important and is a priority, however it should be noted that patient activity and ancillary responsibilities may impact the availability of a particular internship. In addition, an interview could be requested as we assess for appropriate placement.

College students requiring shadowing experiences are also accepted on a limited basis, as resources are available.

Surgical Tech Internship Programs
The surgical tech intern program is designed for students in the final months of an accredited surgical technology program. The surgical technology program must be CAAHEP accredited and currently have a clinical rotation at St. Cloud Hospital during the time of the internship. The program is eight weeks in length and is a paid internship. The program allows students to review first hand experience in a variety of surgical case settings, including neurosurgery, orthopedics, vascular, thoracic, and general surgery. The internship offers part time hours, which is generally an average of 20 hours per pay period (two weeks). The program is flexible in working around school schedules and may include Saturday experience.
