L.I.F.E. Program (Lifestyle, Food & Exercise)

Whether you are simply seeking to lose unwanted weight or need a dietary / health makeover, the L.I.F.E. program is for you!

The L.I.F.E. program gives participants the knowledge they need to gain a lifetime of health through sound nutrition and lifestyle changes. The program’s evidenced-based principles can benefit a wide range of individuals who desire to improve health, prevent disease and extend their lifespan. Moreover, the program teaches key weight loss principles with proven success.

Who might benefit from this program?

  • Those who want to improve their health and reduce their chance of chronic disease.
  • Patients with conditions such as hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia or those at risk for coronary artery disease.
  • Overweight patients
  • Overweight women who struggle with fertility issues, especially polycystic ovarian syndrome patients.

L.I.F.E. program participants learn how many chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer, are associated with unhealthy food choices and a lack of physical activity. Following an evidence-based, nutrient-dense eating style along with lifestyle changes can prevent or reverse diseases thought to be inevitable in Western society. In addition, those with weight issues find a simplified way to lose unwanted pounds while enhancing health without any gimmicks, surgery or medication – just through good nutrition.

Program Components

The L.I.F.E. program consists of an initial appointment which includes readiness screening and appropriate lab work. A physical exam is advised and can be done with one’s own health care provider or can be arranged at CentraCare Clinic.

In addition to completion of a thorough health history, basic lab testing will include:

  • Fasting lipid panel
  • TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone)
  • Fasting glucose
  • ECG (electrocardiogram) for those with increased cardiac risk factors or over age 40

The eight-week educational program consists of two-hour seminars each week. These sessions provide extensive education on diet, exercise and nutrition, as well as practical and behavioral aspects. The final session covers menu planning and food preparation tips. After completion of the seminars, participants will receive one individual review session with staff.

Program Costs

Outside of the initial examination, most insurance companies, unfortunately, will not cover the cost of “preventive care,” such as nutritional education or weight loss programs. Some insurance plans may cover weight loss programs providing there is an accompanying condition, such as obesity-related diabetes, hypertension, etc. Individuals with “cafeteria” or “flex” plans can use such funding for the L.I.F.E. program.

Participants will be required to pre-pay before starting the L.I.F.E. program. The $375 program fee includes several books, eight weekly seminars and a follow-up appointment. The cost of the program includes the option to bring your spouse or significant other without additional charge (materials will be shared).
