CentraCare Health Foundation awards $32,001 in health-related grants

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The CentraCare Health Foundation approved six grants for a total of $32,001 in January.

Each year, the CentraCare Health Foundation averages more than $200,000 in health-related grants. The Foundation’s grants support projects that promote health education, conduct research and provide services or programs that improve health and health care for residents of our 13-county region. Those receiving grants are:

  • Arc Midstate’s Potpourri Conference received $2,500. This conference is designed to strengthen families who have children with a wide variety of special needs by improving the skills and knowledge of those who are providing care for children and teens with special needs.
  • Living Waters Lutheran Church Body Image Workshop received 1,000. This workshop took place during the Miss America Beauty Pageant and addressed the issue of body image.
  • Mental Health/Survivor Network of Minnesota: St. Cloud Regional Resource Center Warm Line Project received $10,000. This program maintains and expands the outreach, training and support services associated with St. Cloud Regional Resource Center Warm Lines, which is an empowering, recovery based and peer supported phone line for adults affected by mental illness.
  • PATH, Inc.’s Children’s Therapeutic Supports and Services Program received $5,000. The goal of this organization is to help children in foster care learn hands-on skills to cope with mental health challenges.
  • University of North Dakota’s Aging Parents of Adult Mentally Ill Research Project received $3,501.This research project will develop an initial theory of aging parents of adult mentally ill people.
  • St. Cloud Hospital’s Mission & Spiritual Care Department’s Clinical Pastoral Education Program received $10,000. This program prepares students to become clinical pastoral educators.
