St. Cloud Hospital photo selected for NACHRI photo exhibit
St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud Hospital photograph by professional photographer Shawn Nielsen was selected by the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) for its 2009 traveling exhibition of 50 photographs. The photo was chosen from nearly 250 photographs submitted to NACHRI by children’s hospitals across the country.
St. Cloud Hospital is a member of NACHRI, an elite association devoted to ensuring the well-being of America’s 70 million children and their families — no matter how sick or how poor. As a member,
St. Cloud Hospital will participate in national programs to increase public awareness of children’s health requirements, to collect and disseminate information useful to fellow members, and to enhance
cost-efficiency and quality.
“The photograph depicting a father gazing at his tiny baby stood out for its composition, quality, fit with the exhibit theme and the story it tells,” said Sallie Strang, director of communications for NACHRI and curator of the photo exhibit.
“Being selected by this prestigious group for the creative work that exemplifies the patient- and family-centered care provided at St. Cloud Hospital is an honor,” said Penny Beattie, care center director of St. Cloud Hospital Women & Children’s Center.
“St. Cloud Hospital Children’s Center prides itself on providing care that is ‘state-of-the-art’ while never forgetting it is the ‘little things’ that matter most to the patient and their families,” said Diane Pelant, clinical director of the Children’s Center at St. Cloud Hospital.
“The NACHRI traveling photo exhibition is designed to illustrate the vital role children’s hospitals play in children’s lives through compelling visual images of patients at children’s hospitals, their family members and the caring and compassionate staff,” continued Strang. “Collectively, the exhibit
demonstrates why all children need children’s hospitals. This year’s exhibit will travel across the country to include Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., where members of Congress will be invited to experience it.”
The NACHRI traveling photo exhibition is the result of a biennial competition that began in 1993 with 150 photo submissions. Throughout the years, the competition to be selected for the traveling exhibit has grown significantly. The photo exhibit will debut March 22-25 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Renaissance Nashville and Nashville Convention Center.
Founded in 1968, NACHRI is an association of 214 children’s hospitals and related institutions devoted to improving the health and well-being of children and families through support of children’s hospitals’ four fold mission of clinical care, pediatric training, research and child advocacy. All children need children’s hospitals.
