A whole new environment for outpatient surgery

This isn’t the sterile, cold surgical setting that your grandma remembers.
CentraCare Surgery Center - Health Plaza offers patients a whole new
environment for outpatient surgery.
CentraCare Surgery Center, which
opened in September 2007, combines
the healing power of nature with the
latest advancements in surgical
technology.
Natural light streams
through large windows. Soothing colors
provide a relaxing setting. Large murals
display scenes from nature, adding to a
sense of peacefulness. The staff focuses
on privacy and patient- and family centered
care. |

This is the only
outpatient surgery center in the area to
provide private pre-operative admitting
rooms and post-operative recovery
rooms -- allowing family members to
rejoin their loved ones sooner after
surgery than in a traditional setting.
Each room is equipped with a TV and
DVD player, as well as a
sleeper sofa to
accommodate an
overnight guest. A shared bathroom is
situated between each
recovery room -- so
patients don’t have to walk
down a long hallway in
search of one.
Liliana Lucas, DDS, Pediatric Dentistry, St. Cloud,
agrees that the patient- and family-centered care model
creates a positive experience. Lucas, who is board
certified in pediatric dentistry, uses the surgery center
for young children who need extensive dental work
and are unable to tolerate prolonged treatment.
“Parents are able to accompany
their child into the operating room
prior to induction, which is very
comforting,” Dr. Lucas said.
Digital X-ray equipment provided at the surgery center
is another amenity Lucas appreciates. It provides
instant pictures, reduces radiation and is more
environmentally friendly.
Another comfort offered at CentraCare Surgery Center
is a visiting Eucharistic minister, who each morning
offers communion to patients and families.
