Helping you get back on your feet again From Spotlight on Health - Summer 2011
Tamara Congdon, MD, offers patients in the Short Stay Unit at St. Benedict’s Senior Community -
St. Cloud something no one else does in Central Minnesota -- an onsite physician. The Internal Medicine physician’s thoughtful attention combined with a team of caregivers specializing in short stay care, helps make the transition from
St. Cloud Hospital to home easier for patients.
“Dr. Congdon is a very warm, caring person,” said Colleen Donlin of Sauk Rapids. Colleen spent three weeks in Short Stay recovering from having both knees replaced in early May.
Patients recuperate in spacious private rooms -- many with a view of Lillian’s or Rosie’s Garden. The gardens offer an outdoor area for patients to strengthen their walking with ample places to sit and rest.
“I enjoyed watching the trees blossom in Rosie’s Garden, from my room,” Colleen said. |

Since many of the Short Stay patients need intense levels of therapy, the program offers therapy two times a day, seven days a week, based on physicians’ orders. The goal is to return patients to their highest level of functioning.
The mission that “All Shall Be Treated As Christ” guides us as we strive to nurture the spirit, which is as essential as caring for the body. The Pastoral Care staff helps patients have a full spiritual life.
