Arrive at the big event fully prepared by knowing childbirth comfort measures, pain management options, relaxation techniques and breathing exercises that you can try during active labor. A woman should never leave home without these essentials! This class includes time to PRACTICE positions and techniques to use in labor along with your labor support person. Please bring along 1-2 pillows to this class because they will be used for relaxation and breathing practice.
Parents with one or more children already may elect to just take “Your Labor Accessories” as a refresher for labor practice. This is the SECOND of three labor and delivery classes. It is highly recommended that all three classes be taken IN ORDER by first time parents-to-be. The first class is “Labor, Styled Your Way and the last class in this category is “The Crowning Event”.
In addition to this, it is highly recommended that NEW expectant parents take BOTH newborn classes IN ORDER to gain the most from the information provided. These classes are “Oh Baby! It’s Your Birthday! and “Making Memories”.
Family Birthing Center tours can be scheduled prior to any Tuesday or Wednesday evening class. The 5:30 p.m. tour will finish before the classes begin. Pre-registration is required for Tours. If interested, please call (320) 656-7021 and specifically request the tour that finishes before the class starts. Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles and other adult family members are welcome to attend the tour, too. Each person must be registered by name to attend along with the expectant parent.
