Set aside a Saturday just for you and your labor support person to learn about the basics of labor and delivery FROM START TO FINISH. All in one day, this class provides an overview of all the topics offered through the “Labor, Styled Your Way,” “Your Labor Accessories” and “The Crowning Event” evening classes. Newborn Care classes are offered separately.
Topics covered during the Weekend Getaway include:
Labor, Styled Your Way: Discover how your body is preparing for the birth of your child. Learn how to tell if you are in labor, when to come to the hospital and how to be comfortable at home during the early stages of labor. You and your labor support person will take away ideas for enhancing your birth experience.

Your Labor Accessories: Arrive at the big event fully prepared by knowing childbirth comfort measures, pain management options, relaxation techniques and breathing exercises that you can try during active labor. A woman should never leave home without these essentials! This class allows time for PRACTICE of positions and techniques to use in labor along with your labor support person. Please bring along 1-2 pillows to this class because they will be used for relaxation and breathing practice.

It is highly advised, but not required, that you and your labor support person complete these classes by the 30th week of pregnancy. Please register early to ensure you get into the classes of your choice.
Please bring the Gift of Motherhood book along to every class. This is the spiral-bound childbirth preparation book given to expectant parents in the clinic.

Park in the North Visitor Lot or the North Visitor Ramp at St. Cloud Hospital. Enter through the North Entrance and go to the Lakes Elevator. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. The Women & Children Center Classroom is straight ahead.
The Weekend Getaway will have a short lunch break. There are vending machines located on the 3rd floor, but you are encouraged to bring your own lunch, snacks and beverages. The Riverfront Dining Room will be open, if you would like to buy lunch. An ice machine and water are available. Please bring your own covered drink container. Cups, spoons, forks, bowls and plates are not provided.
