Greetings from University of Minnesota / St. Cloud Hospital Family Medicine Residency

In residency programs, summer always brings both beginnings and endings. This year we say goodbye to four fine graduates who completed their training and are now in the process of beginning their new careers.

Toby Christie-Perkins, DO will be practicing at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, Minnesota, Zainab Elsarawy, MBChB will be practicing in Canton Michigan, Jasvir Singh, MD will be joining Sutter Gould Medical Foundation in Modesto, California and Manju Pandey, MBBS, will be practicing in Texas.

We welcome our new PGY-1 class. Srikanth Dakoji, MBChB, Razieh Hadian-Jazi, MD, Abaobi Okonkwo, MD, Jennifer Taves, MD, and Ryan Scott, DO.

Two new third year medical students from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine joined us in late June to perform their clinical clerkships at St. Cloud Hospital. We welcome Collin de la Houssaye. and Jason Klipsic . They join our two fourth year students who have now completed their third year clerkships, Chris O’Neill and Claire Philippe.

Jimmie Browning, MD has joined the University of Minnesota/St. Cloud Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.  Dr. Browning was a faculty member at the United Family Medicine Residency Program in St. Paul, Minnesota for 13 years.  He also was a staff physician at United Family Medicine, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, and United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota for 13 years.

CentraCare Family Health Center is a certified Patient-Centered Medical Home since October 2011.

Manju Pandey, MBBS and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “What is the best method of compression to speed healing of venous stasis ulcers?” published in the May 2011 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Toby Christie-Perkins, DO, Tom Satre, MD and Paul Wenner, PhD, LP presented “Integrated Inpatient Rounds: An Answer for Multiple Residency Needs” at the 44th STFM Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA, on April 30, 2011.

Tom Satre, MD presented “Resident Scholarly Activity: Lessons Learned in Organizing a Herd of Cats” at the 44th STFM Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA, on April 30, 2011.

Jasvir Singh, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “What is the target heart rate in a patient with chronic atrial fibrillation?” published in the December 2011 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Toby Christie-Perkins, DO and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “Does a low-salt diet prevent preeclampsia?”  Published in the February 2012 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Zainab Elsarawy, MBChB and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “What are the causes of chronic perianal dermatitis in kids?” Published in the March 2012 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Shefa Kani, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “Does weaning of narcotics in pregnant women with chronic pain result in better fetal outcomes than maintenance therapy?” Published in the July 2012 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Viktoriya Vladykina, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “What interventions are effective for preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea?" Published in the November 2012 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Jennifer Wesenberg, DO and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled "What is the utility of imaging studies in adult patients after a first-time seizure?" Published in the February 2013 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.

Trent Anderson, DO and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled "What is the underlying rate of serious colonic disease in low-risk patients under age 50 with mild hematochezia?" Published in the March 2013 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
