Family Medicine Residency News

  • In residency programs, summer always brings both beginnings and endings. This year we say goodbye to five fine graduates who completed their training and are now in the process of beginning their new careers.
    • Trent Anderson, DO is practicing at Mayo Clinic Lake City Health System in Wabasha, Minnesota
    • Shefa Kani, MD is practicing in Urgent Care in Waterford, Michigan
    • Nathan Tiwari, MD is practicing at Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota
    • Viktoriya Vladykina, MD is practicing as a hospitalist at the St. Cloud Hospital
    • Jennifer Wesenberg, DO is practicing at Unity Family Medical Center in Little Falls, Minnesota.
  • We welcome our new PGY-1 class. Olusola Adegoke, MBBS, Erik Bostrom, MD, Lana Dirksen, MD, Travis Greiman, MD and Neil Johnson, DO.
  • Two new third year medical students from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine joined us in late June to perform their clinical clerkships at St. Cloud Hospital. We welcome Amy Kraushaar and Christopher Martinez. They join our two fourth year students who have now completed their third year clerkships, Collin de la Houssaye and Jason Klipsic.
  • Dennis Peterson, MD has joined the University of Minnesota/St. Cloud Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Peterson practiced in Willmar Family Practice Medical Center in Willmar, Minnesota for over 20 years.
  • CentraCare Family Health Center is a certified Patient-Centered Medical Home since October 2011.
  • Shefa Kani, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled "Does weaning of narcotics in pregnant women with chronic pain result in better fetal outcomes than maintenance therapy?" Published in the July 2012 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Viktoriya Vladykina, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled "What interventions are effective for preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea?" Published in the November 2012 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Jennifer Wesenberg, DO and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled "What is the utility of imaging studies in adult patients after a first-time seizure?" Published in the February 2013 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Trent Anderson, DO and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled "What is the underlying rate of serious colonic disease in low-risk patients under age 50 with mild hematochezia?" Published in the March 2013 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Nathan Tiwari, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “What medical treatments are effective for Meniere’s disease?” published in the June 2013 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Natalya Lyadova, MD and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “In patients with hiatal hernia and reflux symptoms, is proton pump inhibitor therapy more effective than surgical intervention?” published in the October 2013 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Elsaid Rabie, MBChB and Tom Satre, MD had their article entitled “What types of exercises are best for treatment of patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS)?” published in the October 2013 Volume 16 Number 10 issue of Evidence-Based Practice.
