Halloween HandoutsHalloween candy too tempting? If your family is anything like ours, the candy sometimes doesn’t make it into the trick-or-treaters buckets. Check out these non-candy Halloween handouts to solve the disappearing candy mystery and promote a fun and healthy Halloween for the kids.

  • Mini glow sticks: Increase trick-or-treaters’ visibility at night while they are going from door to door.
  • Halloween-themed bubbles: What kid doesn’t like to compete with their friends for the biggest bubble? Just make sure to purchase a nontoxic option to keep the more curious children from getting sick.
  • Flashlights: Another option to increase visibility on the dark Halloween night. Find Halloween-themed flashlights for more excitement.
  • Mini pumpkins: Attach a recipe for pumpkin seeds that your visitors can make after they decorate their pumpkins.
  • Pumpkin seeds: While they may not be your typical treat, there are many varieties and are a very festive option. A healthy Halloween treat that is rich in zinc, iron and magnesium.
  • Applesauce: Some people might consider handing out fresh apples for Halloween as a healthy treat, but an apple isn’t usually in the best condition after an evening in a child’s trick-or-treat bucket. Applesauce is sealed and shelf stable until opened, allowing your visitor to enjoy it the next day.
  • Jack-o-lantern Clementines or Mandarin oranges: They’re orange and round — just draw a jack-o-lantern face using a nontoxic marker and you have an instant Halloween-themed healthy treat.
