Patient Stories - Nicole Becker
“When I was teary-eyed, the nurses were teary-eyed with me.” -- Nicole Becker
Nicole Becker gave birth to identical twins, Kylee and Carley, on Oct. 5, 2008 at just 24 weeks gestation. Carley died when she was 10 days old. Kylee entered this big world at 1lb.,
9 oz. so instead of nestling in her mother’s arms she spent months in
St. Cloud Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Staff comforted and supported Nicole just as they did her daughter.
"When I was teary-eyed, the nurses were teary-eyed with me," Nicole said. "They always provided a warm atmosphere and an encouraging smile. Sometimes compassionate care is the most important part of care."
Today, Kylee's four brothers and sisters are happy to have their baby sister home with them. They love to make her smile. "I cannot say enough about the care we received," Nicole said. "I was overwhelmed by the love the physicians and nurses showed to my baby and my family."
