He recalls seeing a bright light and greeting his departed father and son. Then he remembers us bringing him back. Until that moment, he didn’t know how bad things were: didn’t know he was in a coma; didn’t know we used an innovative new cooling technology to lower his temperature to 92 degrees, preventing brain damage. He didn’t know any of this until he saw the look on his wife’s face. “They put a defibrillator in my chest to make sure this wouldn’t happen again, and it’s saved my life already. My wife and I owe everything to those people.”

Intensive caring in an innovative ICU.

Intensive care is just that: intense monitoring and treatment of critically ill adults.

At the St. Cloud Hospital ICU, we care for these patients with a specialized team of registered nurses, physicians, dietitians, respiratory care practitioners and other caregivers, offering one-on-one attention and support.

We’ve received national recognition for improved outcomes, reduced costs, and for including patients' families in our multidisciplinary rounds, but like those patients, we must do everything we can to continue to get even better.

Your gift will:

• Improve comfort, recovery times and outcomes through technology upgrades
• Provide greater standardization of ICU services and more room for patients, staff and family
• Relocate the ICU closer to surgery for increased efficiency
• Enhance the Surgical Progressive Care Unit so seriously ill patients won’t need to be transferred down long, busy corridors
• Allow us to continue to treat complex patients from 12 outlying hospitals
