Computed Tomography CT or CAT Scan of Spine

A CAT scan of the spine is an x-ray used to detect abnormalities of the bones, discs and nerves of the spine.

Radiation is used for this exam. Please notify your doctor if you are pregnant.

During the exam, you will lie on your back on a table as it moves through the scanner. If you cannot tolerate lying flat on your back for at least 10 minutes, please notify your doctor.

You may take pain medication prior to the exam. The exam takes about 10 minutes.

After your exam is read by a radiologist, your doctor will receive a report of the findings and will discuss them with you.

Providing safe, quality patient care is our highest priority. To help ensure quality and safety, we ask that you do not bring young children with you to your appointments, as children are not allowed to accompany you during Imaging procedures. Staff is unable to monitor your child in your absence.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your doctor or contact Imaging Services at (320) 255-5619.
