Preparing for Your Hospital Stay

As you prepare for the birth of your child, we would like to help you be as prepared as possible for your hospital stay. Taking the following steps will help the process go more quickly and smoothly.

First, at 28 weeks of your pregnancy, please complete and return the preregistration form found in your Partners in Care book. Or you may also complete this information using our online preregistration service. To preregister online, you will first need to get a password, which you can obtain by contacting the Admissions department at (320) 656-7052 or (800) 835-6614.

Second, at 30 weeks of your pregnancy, we invite you to:

  • Complete the Preferences for Your Birth Experience form and bring with you at the time of delivery.
Preferences for Your Birth Experience form (download Microsoft Word document)
Preferences for Your Birth Experience form (download PDF)

  • Schedule a tour of the Family Birthing Center.
Group tours of the Family Birthing Center are held several times each week for expecting moms and their families. Please register for a tour by calling 320-229-5139. To take a tour, meet in the Women and Children’s Center Classroom (located by the C elevator on the third floor). Tours take approximately 45 minutes. Family Birthing Center registered nurses will provide information about the Family Birthing Center and provide a tour.

Finally, review your Partners in Care book. Information about labor, birth and what you can expect during your hospital stay, as well as the first weeks following your baby’s birth, is addressed in this book. The more information you have, the more able you will be to make the choices that are best for you and your baby.
