| Our Health Care Team
Parents/Patients:
As important members of the health care team, they help plan,
decide and coordinate care.
Physician: We have board-certified doctors in pediatric
cardiology, pediatric critical care, neonatology, perinatology, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology
and numerous other specialties.
Case Manager: This R.N. works with patients who have
complex needs that require multidisciplinary care.
Registered Nurse (R.N.): An R.N. is assigned to every patient.
Nurses promote a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit.
They work with families to develop, manage and evaluate the
plan of care.
Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.): The L.P.N. assists with
patient tasks as determined by the R.N.
Patient Care Assistants (P.C.A.): A P.C.A. assists the R.N.
and L.P.N. with daily activities such as bathing, ambulating,
eating and playing.
Social Worker: The social worker counsels families with
financial concerns and social stressors and makes referrals
to community resources and support.
Therapists: Depending on the need, therapists are available
for respiratory, physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Dietitian: The dietitian works with the health care team, patients and families to ensure the patient's nutritional needs
are met.
Lactation Consultant: A lactation consultant is available
for all breastfeeding needs.
Health Unit Coordinator: The unit secretary is available
at the front desk. She acts as both reception and information
center for the unit.
Unit Support: The unit support person restocks supplies
and cleans patient rooms, as well as the unit.
Spiritual Care Services: Hospital chaplains are available
to serve the spiritual care needs of patients and visitors
of all religious traditions. A hospital chapel is available
24 hours a day for contemplation or solitary prayer.
Child Life Specialist: A child life specialist helps children cope with the stress and anxiety of the hospital experience. Learn more
Respiratory Care Therapist: The respiratory care therapist provides respiratory care to those with breathing difficulties.
