As a patient on the unit, you will have at least three hours of therapy, five days per week between

A Nintendo® Wii™ and other advanced technology may be used as part of your therapy. You also may choose to join in evening or weekend activities.
Clothing
On the rehabilitation unit personal clothes are
worn throughout the day. Your therapy will require
comfortable clothing and shoes. Please bring:
Loose fitting shirts or sweatshirts (3-4)
Loose fitting slacks or sweatpants (3-4), elastic
waistbands will be the most comfortable

If you are unsure what to wear, ask your therapist during your first visit. Personal clothing needs to be washed by a family member or caregiver. A washer and dryer are available on the unit. Remember to bring all necessary personal items such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, cosmetics and toiletries. You may also wish to bring pictures or other reminders of home, a calling card, or hobby items, such as books, puzzles, and crafts to help you adjust to your new environment.
Electronics
Cell phones are ok to use on the unit. Each room has a phone. The nurse can help you use the phone. There is a toll-free number that family members may use to ask about your condition. Computer access is available in the family lounge, as well as in patient rooms. You may use your own radio or CD player. A DVD/VCR is available upon request along with a movie list. A Nintendo® Wii™ may be used as part of patient’s therapy.
Family involvement
We encourage family members to be involved in your treatment. In addition to providing moral support, family will be asked to take part in therapy sessions to learn techniques to help you after you are discharged.
Room with a view
In addition to the outstanding people, and innovative programs, nearly all patients on our 20-bed unit enjoy a tranquil view of the Mississippi River.
Visiting hours
The rehabilitation unit offers expanded and flexible visiting hours to meet the needs of our patients and their families. In addition, we work with you to accommodate "rooming in" requests.
Your next destination
Discharge planning begins when you are admitted to our rehabilitation unit. The rehabilitation team will work with you and your family to make plans for home care or other nursing services, medical equipment, outpatient therapies or other community resources.
After leaving the rehabilitation unit, many of our patients are able to go home.
