St. Cloud Hospital Rehabilitation Center has a
special interest in women’s health. Therapists
with specialized training can effectively
treat a variety of women’s health
conditions.
Appropriate for
people with:
- Incontinence (urinary
and fecal)
- Pelvic pain/dysfunction
(coccydynia,
vaginismus, painful
intercourse, or
bladder/sphincter
control)
- Prolapse/pelvic floor
weakness
- Pregnancy-related pain
- Lymphedema
- Osteoporosis
- Pre/post surgical instruction
and treatment
Evaluation:
A physical therapist will thoroughly evaluate
your condition to decide the best treatment.
Treatment may include:
- Biofeedback
- Electrical stimulation
- Complex lymphedema therapy
- Manual therapy techniques
- Patient education
- Therapeutic exercise
Statistics:
- As many as 25 million Americans suffer
from bladder control problems. At least
80 percent are female.
- Two-thirds of individuals who experience
loss of bladder control do not seek
treatment for their symptoms.
- Cesarean section delivery is the most
common major surgery among females in
the United States. Hysterectomy is the
second most common. Both have
potential implications for pelvic pain
or bowel/bladder control.
- An estimated 18 percent of all females
experience chronic pelvic pain in their
lifetime.
