Da Vinci surgery is an effective, minimally invasive alternative to both open surgery and laparoscopic surgery. It provides surgeons with the precision, dexterity and control of traditional open surgery, but with incisions no bigger than a dime.

How is da Vinci surgery different?
Unlike traditional surgery, the surgeon sits ten feet away from the patient at a special console. The surgeon looks into the console to see a highly magnified 3D image of the patient’s interior. Controls on the console allow the surgeon to navigate the da Vinci’s robotic arms and endoscopic camera through tiny dime-size incisions on the patient’s body. The robotic arms exceed a human’s natural range of motion and filter and scale the surgeon’s actions into precise micro-movements.
