Trauma Outreach & Education

Customized trauma courses are provided to area hospitals upon request. These courses are designed to meet the State Trauma System requirements for nursing trauma education. Hospital and ambulance trauma case reviews are available and provided at your site.

Trauma Medical Education with CMEs can be provided for area hospitals. An educational event with the trauma surgeon and/or subspecialty trauma physician can be held at your facility with pertinent trauma patient review conducted from pre-hospital presentation to rehab.

  • Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC)
    St. Cloud Hospital Emergency Trauma Center now offers a Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) to referring facilities. Each 8-hour course is led by Advanced Trauma Life Support instructors and covers the initial assessment of the trauma patient, resuscitation and transfer to definitive care. This course was developed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Rural Trauma. Appropriate attendees includes individuals who are involved in the care of the injured patient, such as physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, prehospital personnel (EMS), technicians and administrative support utilizing a team approach (ED assistants and health unit coordinators and/or nursing supervisors). Courses are conducted at referring facilities, utilizing their equipment so that an assessment can be done of available resources and limitations.

  • Trauma Case Reviews Offer CME
    Trauma Services at St. Cloud Hospital is offering fall and winter trauma case reviews to area hospitals. Case reviews will examine the patient progression from pre-hospital, initial resuscitation and transfer, emergency care, surgery, intensive care and rehabilitation. Final outcomes are presented in an educational presentation. This review can be held at your facility and will be custom designed for pre-hospital, nursing, physician or mixed group.   • Case Review
    Dr. Kurt Martinson and Kirstie Bingham are available to assist with case review loop closure if there are concerns within the Level III and Level IV Trauma Centers. If you would like assistance, please contact Kirstie Bingham at 320-255-5617.
