Step 2: Application, recommendation and immunization records
Application
To apply for a volunteer position, you may submit an application online by going to the link for the appropriate program: Adult, College or Junior.
You will receive an e-mail confirming we received your application.
Recommendation
Identify people who can vouch for your character and your work abilities, preferably work or education-related references. Only Recommenders who are not relatives will be accepted.
Provide your Recommender/s with a recommendation form and a stamped envelope addressed to the St. Cloud Hospital Volunteer Office. The person completing your recommendation form is to directly mail or fax the recommendation form to the St. Cloud Hospital Volunteer Office. Recommendation form/s must be received within 30 days of receiving your application.
Once your application and recommendation form/s are received, we will review your application. If your qualifications, background and availability indicate a match to the position/s we have available, you will be contacted by one of our Volunteer Office staff for more information. If you are not selected for further consideration, we will notify you via e-mail or by a mailed letter.
Provide Immunization Records
Volunteers must provide immunization records for:
1) Chicken Pox (CP). (must have one of the following)

Record with dates of 2 doses of CP vaccine received.
- Or, a history of having had chicken pox such as the year you had chicken pox.
2) Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), record with dates of 2 doses of MMR vaccine received.
- Only required If you were born after 1956.
Step 3: Interview
Upon review and acceptance of the application, we will contact you to set up an interview. The interview offers us a chance to discuss your application, your schedule and your specific volunteer interests, as well as opportunities currently available that might be suitable for you.
Step 4: Hospital orientation
If the Volunteer Office and the applicant find a position that would be a good fit, the applicant will be offered a position; A health screening, hospital orientation and position specific training will be scheduled. Orientations are held on Mondays. Orientation includes a live session, tour, uniform, ID badge and computerized education modules. Computerized education modules may be completed online with instructions given during the interview.
Offers of Volunteering
All offers of volunteering are contingent upon successfully passing a background check and health screening, including a physical, drug/alcohol screen, tuberculosis screening, and if born after 1956 - an immunization record verification for MMR and Chicken Pox. You will not be able to start as a volunteer until you have successfully completed these steps.
