What volunteer opportunities are available?
CentraCare Health System – Melrose greatly appreciates the help of volunteers. We value the unique skills of individuals and try to match your interests with the needs of the health system.

Volunteers serve in the following areas:

  • Hospital
  • Clinic
  • Pine Villa Care Center
  • Park View Center

What kind of people will I be working with?
CentraCare Health System – Melrose cares for people of all ages. The CentraCare Health System – Melrose Hospital and Clinic volunteers work with patients, families and visitors of all ages. Pine Villa Care Center or Park View Center volunteers work with senior patients, residents and tenants.

Is there a certain number of volunteer hours expected?
CentraCare Health System – Melrose asks for a commitment of 50 hours after training and orientation. Most volunteers start with one two- to four-hour shift depending on their area in which they volunteer and the project they are working on.

How do I schedule volunteer time?
If a volunteer works in a specific department, he/she schedules work with the Volunteer Mentor in that department. While many volunteers establish a set schedule, others volunteers’ schedule varies. We are flexible with the scheduling of your volunteer time. Time may be scheduled by a volunteer on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis depending on what fits a volunteer’s lifestyle.

What is the dress code?
Our appearance represents CentraCare Health System – Melrose. Therefore, we recognize that we dress for the people we serve and not on our personal preferences. We ask that volunteers present a professional image and are neatly groomed. Good personal hygiene is expected. Volunteers wear a picture I.D. badge and may wear solid colored pants or capris with no holes or fraying. Depending on what area volunteers work in, they may be asked to wear a uniform. Jeans, shorts, fragrance, bare feet, open-toe shoes, visible tattoos, and visible piercings other than earrings are not acceptable.

Do I need any certifications?
CentraCare Health System – Melrose does not require certifications of its volunteers. You can start volunteering as soon as you’ve completed each of the steps in the application process.

What are the benefits of volunteering?
The primary benefit all volunteers receive is knowing that they make a difference in the lives of patients, residents, tenants, their families and staff. Other benefits include:
