Occupational therapy helps people of all ages do daily activities. Our occupational therapist can help people whose ability is impaired by:
- Physical illness or injury
- Congenital or developmental disorders
- Social or emotional problems
- Aging process
Receiving Occupational Therapy
Individuals receive occupational therapy on an inpatient or outpatient basis, at the long-term care facility, and through home health care services. Treatment is initiated upon the order of a physician. Following an evaluation, treatment objectives are identified and coordinated with the patient and/or family, and other members of the health care team.

Physical therapy is the treatment of disability and pain through physical means such as exercise, heat, cold, electricity, etc. It can help a patient recover from an illness, injury or surgery or it can help maintain mobility in people with disabilities and birth defects.
Treatments can help a patient gain strength, relieve pain, regain use of an affected limb or relearn daily living activities such as walking, dressing or bathing.
Speech therapy at CentraCare Health-Long Prairie provides diagnosis and treatment of communication and speech disorders.

Athletic Training Services
Most athletes and active individuals will have to deal with some aches, pains or injuries over the years. Some injuries will require special care for the proper diagnosis and treatment.
Our athletic trainer:

- Provides emergency care and first aid
- Manages and treats athletic injuries
- Rehabilitates and physically reconditions athletic injuries
Our athletic trainer is educated and trained in injury and illness prevention strategies that focus on optimizing health to improve an individual’s quality of life.

Board certified Edward Green, MD, allergist, from Stevens Community Medical Center, provides monthly outreach allergy and immunology clinic at CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre.
Ruth Schaefer, MA, from Audiology Center, provides bi-weekly outreach hearing services at CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre.
Chemotherapy / Oncology
Intravenous chemotherapy at CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre allows patients to receive cancer treatments closer to home and work closely with referring oncologists to make your chemotherapy treatments as convenient as possible – saving travel time and costs.
In addition to administering chemotherapy treatments, nursing staff also update the patient’s oncologist and call to check on the patient. They provide emotional support, education about side effects and additional resources that may be of help.
Follow-up lab work can be done at CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre as well as CT, MRI and other diagnostic tests.
Hilary Ufearo, MD, an oncologist from Coborn Cancer Center visits the CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre outreach clinic on a monthly basis to see patients.

Sleep disorders such as sleep apnea can be easily identified through sleep diagnostic testing at CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre. Testing is performed overnight in a private sleep room. Sensor as attached to the body to monitor breathing, heart rate, brain activity, muscle activity and oxygen levels while the patient sleeps.
Once a sleep disorder has been identified, treatment can be prescribed to help improve the amount and quality of your sleep.
A provider’s order is required to schedule a sleep study. CentraCare Health – Sauk Centre works in collaboration with St. Cloud Hospital’s Sleep Center to provide this service locally.
