“I lived to tell the tale ... what more can I say?” – Mike Hengel
Innovative care — it gave Mike a second chance, and a life story that beats any fish story.
For Mike, innovation is just a fancy way to say life-saving. His sudden cardiac arrest left him in grave danger. After receiving bystander CPR and having paramedics shock his heart back into rhythm, we used an innovative treatment -- cooling his core body temperature to 92°.
We were the first Minnesota hospital to successfully use this new approach, part of a comprehensive sudden cardiac arrest initiative called “Take Heart America.”
