A treatment option, known as prostate seed implantation, is available for men with localized prostate cancer. This minimally invasive procedure involves the implantation of tiny seeds -- each about the size of a grain of rice -- into the cancerous tissue of the prostate gland.

Studies have shown that prostate seed implantation may be as effective as radical surgery in treating early stage prostate cancer. And as an outpatient procedure, it offers a lower risk of lasting side effects, such as urinary incontinence and impotence, compared to radical surgery.
