Medical oncology is the specialty of internal medicine that deals with the diagnosis, management and treatment of cancer.

Medical oncologists are physicians who have specialized knowledge of all aspects of the treatment of cancer, including chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy and biotherapy.

At Coborn Cancer Center, medical oncologists typically manage the care of cancer patients. They routinely collaborate with other physicians, including radiation oncologists and surgeons to determine the optimal treatment plan to offer the patient the best possible outcome.

Additional members of a patient's care team are advance practice registered nurses, specially trained oncology nurses and other support staff.

Inpatient Oncology Unit
Patients who require a hospital stay as part of their cancer treatment will be admitted to the Inpatient Oncology Unit at St. Cloud Hospital. Our 27-bed cancer unit offers a strong patient and family focus and was designed to create a healing environment. The nursing and physician staff encourage you and your family to be actively involved in every aspect of your care.

Referrals
