CentraCare Diabetes Center provides a full spectrum of services for those with diabetes. We have a team of experts that works closely with each of our patients and their primary physicians. This team approach helps our patients incorporate diabetes care into their lifestyle, with the goal of improving overall health and minimizing complications related to diabetes.

Our care team is made up of endocrinologists, physicians who specialize in diabetes, and registered nurses and registered dietitians who have undergone specialized training to become certified diabetes educators.

Programs

Diabetes Self-Management Program - Through this program, we offer education and continued support to diabetics. The goal of the program is to provide those diagnosed with diabetes the knowledge and skills necessary to stay well and prevent complications. The self-management program can be accomplished through individual sessions or group classes with a nurse and dietitian who are certified diabetic educators.

Gestational Diabetes Program - We recognize the importance of bringing a healthy baby into the world. Our staff assists expectant parents and their obstetricians with high-quality, closely monitored care. Individuals in the gestational program receive a complimentary blood glucose monitor for use during their pregnancy.

Inpatient Diabetes Program - Our staff provides assistance in the care of those who have diabetes and are patients at St. Cloud Hospital. During a hospital stay, patients can learn some of the basic skills needed to manage diabetes. To achieve optimal diabetes management, most patients need outpatient follow-up care after their stay.

Insulin Pump Therapy Program - A certified pump trainer is available to help patients make a smooth transition to this method of diabetes care. Clients must meet certain criteria to be eligible for this program. For more information, please contact the Diabetes Center.

Nutrition Clinic - Our experienced dietitians provide nutrition counseling and education for patients of all ages and with a variety of medical needs. Nutrition Clinic appointments with a registered dietitian are available on an individual basis.

Our services include adult and pediatric weight management and special diet recommendations for gastric bypass, food allergies, low-protein, cancer, high-fiber, gluten-free, vegetarian and sports nutrition.
