Echocardiography
The CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center is a nationally accredited echocardiography laboratory, employing highly skilled, nationally registered technologists.
A type of ultrasound, an echocardiogram is an exam that uses sound waves to produce an image of the heart. Echocardiography can be used to identify a weak or inefficient heart muscle, old heart attacks, valve disease, and congenital heart defects (defects of the heart at birth).
Echocardiography services are provided to 13 other facilities throughout Central and Western Minnesota, plus interpretive services for many facilities that use our digital network to transfer or e-mail cardiac ultrasound studies.
More than 12,000 cardiovascular ultrasound procedures are performed annually for patients of all ages.
We train future health care professionals through an echocardiography program affiliated with St. Cloud Technical College.
