Our history dates back more than 100 years when the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict opened St. Joseph's Home. In the mid-1970s, the decision was made by St. Cloud Hospital officials to build St. Benedict's Center, which opened in 1978. The residents from St. Joseph's Home moved down the hill to the beautiful new 222-bed long-term care facility. 

During the past 30 years, much growth and change have taken place at our St. Cloud location. The spectrum grew from serving 222 nursing home residents to a flourishing campus of health care and housing options meeting the needs of more than 500 older adults. To better reflect this broadened scope, our name was changed to St. Benedict's Senior Community, which is part of CentraCare Health System.
