This initiative aims to promote early detection and prevention of skin cancer, coinciding with Melanoma Monday, a campaign by the American Academy of Dermatology.

Board-certified dermatologists will conduct the screenings on Monday, May 5, and Tuesday, May 6 at CentraCare - Plaza Clinic Dermatology, located at 1900 CentraCare Circle. Interested participants must call 320-229-4924 to schedule an appointment, as no walk-ins will be accepted.

Skin cancer rates in Stearns County continue to rise, with the National Cancer Institute reporting an age-adjusted incidence rate of 34.9 cases per 100,000 people. This alarming trend underscores the importance of regular screenings and proactive measures to protect skin health.

Preventive Tips:

  • Wear sunscreen with a high SPF.
  • Use protective clothing, such as hats and UV-blocking shirts.
  • Avoid tanning beds and limit sun exposure during peak hours.

CentraCare encourages everyone to take advantage of this opportunity for a free screening and to adopt healthy habits to reduce the risk of skin cancer. Together, we can make a difference in our community's health and well-being.

For more information or to schedule your screening, please contact CentraCare at 320-229-4924.
