Opening today, a major expansion at CentraCare Plaza represents a transformative investment by CentraCare to expand access to specialty care, enhance the patient experience, and meet growing demand for outpatient services across Central Minnesota and beyond.

The $194 million project includes a 165,000-square-foot, three-story expansion and nearly 60,000 square feet of additional rehabilitation space, which will more than double therapy capacity and significantly enhance the region's ability to deliver advanced care closer to home.

"This is a meaningful milestone for CentraCare and the communities we serve," said Ken Holmen, CentraCare President & CEO. "This investment is about delivering better access, better experiences and better outcomes for patients – now and into the future."

Services that will now be located in the expanded space include:

  • CentraCare Neurosciences (Pain Medicine, Headache, Neurology)
  • CentraCare M Physicians Orthopedics & Orthopedics Urgent Care
  • CentraCare Rehabilitation (Adult Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy)
  • CentraCare - Plaza Midsota MedSpa

Additional updates as part of the expansion include enhancements to the CentraCare - Plaza Surgery Center that will feature:

  • Six new operating rooms, including a hybrid operating room designed for complex procedures
  • Expanded procedural areas to increase care capacity
  • Advanced technology integrated throughout the facility

The expansion reflects a growing national shift toward outpatient care delivery and was intentionally designed to improve coordination across specialties. This includes grouping of complementary specialties, such as orthopedics with surgery and neurosciences with rehabilitation. The co-location of services is aimed at improving care coordination and streamlining patient flow for easier navigation.

"As healthcare continues to evolve, facilities like CentraCare Plaza play a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, high-quality outpatient care," said Joy Plamann, CentraCare Chief Operating Officer. "Our team members are at the heart of that care, and this expansion ensures they have the space and resources needed to continue delivering exceptional experiences for our patients."

While located in St. Cloud, the impact of the CentraCare Plaza expansion extends far beyond a single city. The facility will strengthen access to specialty services across Central Minnesota, allowing more patients to receive advanced treatment without traveling long distances.

"This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to ensuring patients across our region have access to high-quality care close to home," said Holmen.
