Minnesota Physician, a publication of Minnesota Physician Publishing, Inc., presents this award annually to physicians and health care providers who have volunteered their medical services. Whether volunteering at home or overseas, these caregivers help people in need and come away with a revitalized sense of their work. Their compassion, commitment, and generous spirit reflect the deeply held values in Minnesota’s medical community.

Dr. Schrup began his CentraCare career in 1994 as a pediatrician and continues his pediatric practice part-time in addition to his administrative duties as CentraCare’s executive vice president, chief physician officer.

According to Ken Holmen, MD, President & CEO, CentraCare Health, “At CentraCare, the service and care we provide extends outside the four walls of our clinics and hospitals, and reaches our patients, families and communities in powerful ways. Through this volunteer outreach, Dr. Schrup exemplifies meeting patients where they are, and this supports our priority of community health and wellness. We are grateful for Dr. Schrup’s dedication and passion for being a true community caregiver.”
