COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update Learn More

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

CentraCare care givers have been working around the clock for more than 20 months to care for you, your families and friends during COVID. We are committed to caring for every Minnesotan who needs us, and nothing will prevent us from doing so – even during these never-seen-before times.

The challenge of providing this level of care is that our hospital beds are often full. ERs in all of our hospitals are packed. And our clinical teams are exhausted. Early in the pandemic, our community stepped up in amazing ways to help us. We ask that you again join us in fighting this pandemic together.

How can you help?

  • Please get your COVID vaccines and booster shots. They are proven safe and effective in reducing COVID illness, keeping people out of the hospital, and preventing death.
  • If your situation is not an emergency, please use other care options, including:
  • If this is a medical emergency, call 9-1-1, or visit the ER.

Together, we can do this. Thank you for your support.

A Year of Growth: CentraCare Health – Monticello Celebrates its One Year Anniversary

Published in Media Releases Author: CentraCare

CentraCare Health – Monticello is proud to celebrate its one year anniversary with CentraCare Health. New River Medical Center affiliated with CentraCare to become CentraCare Health – Monticello in April of 2013. As a member of CentraCare, the hospital receives financial resources, expertise and stability to ensure that a robust health care system remains in Monticello and provides care for the community, close to home.

Throughout the past year, CentraCare Health’s commitment to enhancing medical services locally has been demonstrated through the implementation of several services and programs including:

  • Birth Center - The Birth Center at CentraCare Health – Monticello opened on March 4, 2014 to provide labor, delivery and newborn care in a comfortable and modern environment. Providers from the Monticello Clinic and Albertville-St. Michael Clinic have partnered with CentraCare Health – Monticello to provide care for moms and newborns at the Birth Center. Physician Anesthesia coverage is also available.
  • Sleep Center - CentraCare Health – Monticello’s Sleep Center offers a calm environment for community members to receive state-of-the-art care for potentially life-threatening sleep disorders.
  • Expanded General Surgery Services - General surgery coverage is now available for the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. General Surgeons, Adrianne Bowen, MD, FACS, and Kourtney Kemp, MD, perform surgery at CentraCare Health – Monticello and see patients at both CentraCare Health – Monticello Medical Group and the Monticello Clinic.
  • Hospitalist Program - CentraCare Health – Monticello partnered with local physician groups to provide an enhanced hospitalist program to ensure patients receive consistent care from a physician dedicated to the medical needs of individuals who are staying in the Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care or Swing Bed units.
  • Physician Recruitment and Relations - CentraCare Health – Monticello is working with local clinic partners to recruit additional providers in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Orthopedics to our community.

In addition to enhanced medical programs, CentraCare Health – Monticello’s first year included many community benefits as a result of joining the CentraCare Health family:

  • Tax Levy Eliminated - As part of CentraCare Health’s commitment to financial support for local health care, for the first time in 50 years, residents of the hospital district are no longer paying taxes to help support the hospital thanks to CentraCare’s investment to our medical community.
  • Increased Commitment to Giving Back - Employees at CentraCare Health – Monticello have partnered with the CentraCare Health Foundation to raise funds and donate minutes from their paychecks to help support updates to CentraCare Health - Monticello’s Care Center and the Back Pack Buddies programs in the Becker, Big Lake and Monticello school districts. The Backpack Buddies program provides food for children in need to ensure they have access to meals over weekends and holiday breaks.

As CentraCare Health – Monticello celebrates its first year, it is also looking toward the future and establishing more health care services locally.

“We are so pleased to celebrate our first year as part of the CentraCare Health family,” said Mary Ellen Wells, Administrator at CentraCare Health – Monticello. “We have accomplished a great deal in offering expanded, state-of-the-art health care options. We are excited to continue to enhance the campus through updating the inpatient Medical/Surgical unit, building partnerships with local providers, and offering additional health care services.  It has been rewarding to partner with physicians and grow local health care services; we look forward to continually investing, with the support of CentraCare, in our community’s health.”
