St. Cloud, Minn. – The American Heart Association (AHA) has named Jodi Gertken, BLEND project coordinator for CentraCare Health Foundation, a Minnesota 2014 Advocacy Volunteer of the Year.

Gertken was honored at AHA’s annual Volunteer Awards ceremony on June 25 for her instrumental role in addressing childhood obesity and her efforts to better the health of Minnesota children.

This year Gertken campaigned for active transportation at the Capitol through her testimony in several committees, meetings with legislators and facilitation of local media attention about Safe Routes to School.

CentraCare Health Foundation Director of Development Todd Steinke lauds Gertken for her avid and enduring advocacy for health and wellness in the community.

“Her passion for the work and her knowledge have earned her a place in this discussion at a local, state and regional level. We are lucky to have Jodi as a part of our CentraCare Wellness team,” said Steinke.
