St. Cloud Hospital Expands Unit for Brain and Spine Patients

Published in Media Releases Author: CentraCare

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud Hospital has expanded the Neuroscience/Spine Unit to accommodate additional neuromedical and neurosurgical patients. Opened April 29, the expansion includes an additional eight beds to bring the total number of beds in the Neuroscience/Spine Unit to 45. Eight of those beds will be the neuro-progressive beds, similar to an ICU step down. The expansion also includes increased remote cardiac monitor capability from eight to 14, new consult rooms, a large family lounge, and staff conference room.

With the addition of neurosurgeons, and a growing interventional neurology program during the past two years, the need for inpatient beds has increased significantly. The expansion will allow St. Cloud Hospital to care for all neuroscience/spine patients on a single, specialized unit.

The St. Cloud Hospital Neuroscience/Spine Unit is part of the Center for Neurosciences, which includes a wide array of services, from spine rehabilitation and strengthening to surgery. From inpatient care, rehabilitation, to outpatient services, the care center is designed to enhance the quality of life for these patients.
