This free series is designed to help anyone with cancer and caregivers define what spirituality means to them and explore contemplative practices to support personal spiritual well-being. Each session is the series is unique and you may participate in as many sessions as you’d like.

Exploring Spiritual Connection through Photography
Tue. • Oct. 1 • 10-11:30 a.m.
Cultivating the arts as a spiritual practice is a path to freeing our imaginations and developing valuable skills for vital living in the world. Bring along your camera or phone for taking photographs to this class.

Spiritual Journal Practices
Tue. • Oct. 8 • 10-11:30 a.m.
Reflecting, through journaling, on your experiences and feelings can help you focus your attention and energy toward what is meaningful. Also, by bringing to light the things that destress you, this exercise can provide the opportunity to move through troubling emotions and reach a place of peace and hope.

The Journey of Forgiveness
Tue. • Oct. 15 • 10-11:30 a.m.
The practice of forgiveness is profoundly important to our wellbeing as human beings, but the role and function of forgiveness is often misunderstood. This session will dispel many of the unhelpful understandings about forgiveness and outline an eight-step practice of forgiveness that has the power to change your life. A proper understanding and intentional practice of forgiveness is an essential tool to living a life oriented toward freedom and wholeness. It is a life-long journey.

Emotions & Meditation
Tue. • Oct. 22 • 10-11:30 a.m.
Meditation has proven to be a therapeutic cancer practice. It has been shown to improve quality of life, lower anxiety, enhance sleep and promote healing. In this class, you will learn how your thoughts and emotions affect you and how to respond more effectively. We will practice different types of meditation including focused breath awareness, body scanning, walking mediation and more.

Spiritual Challenges-Spiritual Growth
Tue. • Oct. 29 • 10-11:30 a.m.
Childhood adversity and trauma are linked to adult health in many ways, including cancer, and has generational impact. Spiritual struggle is a common response to these challenges and presents opportunity for spiritual growth. Learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, explore your spirituality, and possible ways forward.
