Antibody Treatment

Monoclonal Antibody Treatment for People with COVID-19

Those who have recently tested positive for COVID-19 may be eligible for monoclonal antibody treatment. This treatment works to help your body fight a COVID-19 infection by limiting the amount of virus in the body. In clinical trials, this treatment was believed to have reduced the need for hospitalization among high-risk patients.

Who Can Get Antibody Treatment?

Antibody treatment is available to people who:

  • Have tested positive for COVID-19
  • Have mild to moderate symptoms that started within the last seven days
  • Are at least 12 years old and weigh at least 88 pounds

Who Cannot Get Antibody Treatment?

Antibody treatment is not right for people who:

  • Are hospitalized because of COVID-19
  • Need oxygen therapy because of COVID-19
  • Are on chronic oxygen therapy for underlying conditions and need to increase their baseline oxygen due to COVID-19

How Does Antibody Treatment Work?

The treatment involves an IV infusion of medicine which is given to limit the amount of virus in the body. Appointments last a couple of hours and following the treatment, patients return home to continue their recovery from COVID-19.
