Biography What I Do
My philosophy of care is to have a passion for each of my patients and get to know each of them as a person. I believe that having a good personal connection is extremely important for quality care. My biggest interest is in the head injury population. I also really enjoy working with head and neck patients as well as dysphagia. Why I Love My Work
I have always enjoyed learning about the human body and mind. I enjoy helping people and always knew that I wanted to do something in the medical field. During graduate school, I had an internship in a very similar job to what I am doing at CentraCare. I really enjoyed seeing the progress that the patients were making and helping them to achieve their goals to return to their lives.Getting to Know Me
I played college hockey for 4 years at a division III school in Pennsylvania. In my junior season, I sustained a concussion that sidelined me for most of the season with symptoms that lingered. The team doctors eventually wanted me to see a speech pathologist. At that time, I did not know much about speech therapy. After doing some research on the field, it seemed like something I would really enjoy and made the switch.Aside from playing hockey, I also love to watch hockey. I grew up in Central Pennsylvania, my family is from Pittsburgh, so I am a Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers and Pirates fan. I grew up right by Penn State University, so I am a die-hard Penn State Football and hockey fan. Saturdays during the college football season are some of my favorite days of the year. I could sit and watch games all day long. I also really enjoy golfing and I played on my college team. I enjoy being outside and being active. One of my other favorite things to do is to play with my brother's black lab when I am home. I am a huge dog lover.
