What I Do
In my role, I get clarification on a patient’s diagnosis and then begin a discussion about medications. Getting to the core of symptom management with medications is something that I enjoy. Importantly, I educate a patient on available options, discussing the pros and cons, but ultimately the patient is the main decision maker. I like to tell my patients that they are the captain of the ship, and I am just the navigator who will select reasonable and safe options to avoid icebergs. My main goal in practicing mental health care is to maximize a patient’s optimal health. I want a patient to be able to function and engage in all that life has to offer.
I have enjoyed working in psychiatric medication management since 2006 in a variety of settings from inpatient care, consultation liaison services, partial hospital programs, university settings and addiction services. However, I have mainly been practicing in the outpatient setting for a number of years.
Getting to Know Me
Outside of work, I enjoy skiing, CrossFit, biking, roasting my own coffee beans and spending lazy days lakeside at the family cabin with my two daughters, my beautiful wife and spoiled Frenchie.
