Hospitalist - Pediatric

What I Do

As a pediatric nurse practitioner with a specialization in primary care, I provide family-centered care by listening to the healthcare goals of families and collaborating with them to provide guidance and evidence-based recommendations. I think it’s important to work together to achieve optimal health outcomes. My clinical interests include lactation education, new parent education, car seat safety and laceration repair.

Why I Love My Work

My love for newborn care began when I became a "NICU cuddler," a volunteer position in which I provided 1:1 support to infants who were exposed to drugs in utero. I found a passion for consoling these infants when their families could not be in the hospital with them. I then became a NICU nursing assistant and later a NICU nurse. In these roles, I learned so much more about neonatal and newborn health. I eventually went on to complete my Doctor of Nursing Practice, where one of my projects focused on assessing and consoling infants born with unique challenges.

I have always had a passion for kids, and their resiliency has always impressed me. I also love getting to know the entire family.

Getting to Know Me

Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities and home renovation projects. I have three daughters and have been a foster parent. I also serve patients in pediatric emergency departments in the Twin Cities.
