What I Do
As a consultation-liaison psychiatrist, I facilitate the care of patients with both active medical and psychiatric needs. In the hospital, I am able to help patients make sense of how physical illness may manifest neurologically or psychiatrically, and I help clarify when a psychiatric symptom may be due to a medical process, rather than a psychiatric issue. My clinical interests include perinatal psychiatry, substance use disorders, geriatric psychiatry, and neuropsychiatry.
Why I Love My Work
My work is truly a privilege. In being able to serve as an advocate and an educator, in addition to a clinician, I am able to fully realize the role of a physician. The neurosciences are one of the last frontiers in medicine, and we are learning more and more every day how to better care for our patients afflicted with complex medical and psychiatric illnesses.
