Neonatology

What I Do

As a neonatal nurse practitioner, I provide individualized, holistic care to infants and their families with a focus on their physical, developmental and psychosocial needs.

I have a clinical interest in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, developmental care of the neonate and neonatal abstinence syndrome.

Why I Love My Work

In fourth grade I already knew that I wanted to take care of the sickest babies and help them to live and grow. I took a detour as a social worker and emergency department nurse, but then a close friend’s infant received a devastating diagnosis. During this time, I was reminded of my childhood dream and the rest is history!

I love seeing infants overcome obstacles. Many of our patients would not have survived just a few years ago. I have the privilege of walking through the obstacles facing infants and their parents and then celebrating as they leave the hospital for the first time as NICU graduates!

Getting to Know Me

Outside of work, I enjoy singing and playing with my children who are all NICU graduates. I play soccer and run in half-marathons. However, I have ZERO interest in a full marathon! My family is also adventuring into hobby farming. I love horses and learning everything there is to know about them! I know I am an outlier here, but I love the snow! I moved from Texas to Minnesota just before a record-breaking winter of snowfall, and it is just beautiful. I look forward to the beauty of the season and being outside in nature. And of course... the people... Minnesota Nice!
