Emergency Medicine

What I Do

As a physician assistant, my approach to patient care is centered on empathetic listening, evidence-based medicine and shared decision-making, particularly when developing assessment and treatment plans. I aim to ensure that patients feel cared for and confident in completing their treatment courses.

My clinical interests include acute care and minimally invasive procedures.

Why I Love My Work

I enjoy the variety of patients I see in the emergency room. It requires maintaining a general knowledge base in all areas of medicine and continuous education.

In addition to the enjoyment of helping others, I chose a career in health care because I find it fulfilling to witness someone's quality of life improve as a result of my care. I also have a strong interest in science and human physiology. Growing up on a farm, in Central Minnesota, I enjoyed the simple living and connectedness of small-town communities. My favorite experiences during clinical rotations were in acute care settings, guiding my decision to pursue rural emergency medicine.

Getting to Know Me

Outside of work, I enjoy being active by helping on our family farm and spending time with my family. Fun fact, my wife, Tessa Slinden, is a PA at the CentraCare - New London Clinic.
