What I Do
As the emergency department medical director and as an emergency medicine physician, I believe the key to patient satisfaction is provider satisfaction, teamwork with ancillary staff, setting coworkers up for success, staying up to date on emergency medicine as a team and shared decision making with patients. I appreciate the value of a team approach to emergency medicine, and I am confident in our attitude of excellence in everything we do as a team.
Why I Love My Work
What I enjoy most about my work is witnessing our emergency medicine team employing cutting edge medicine with an excellent and patient-centered focus to help the people who come to us for their care. It is very gratifying when I see our patients grateful for their care.
Getting to Know Me
I have always loved science, valued people and viewed the practice of medicine as an incredible challenge that stretches me to be a complete person. After being a family physician for 6 years, I transitioned into emergency medicine and have loved it ever since. I am honored to have served in the Army for 8 years as an Army physician. I also served in the Persian Gulf War as a battalion surgeon for the 101st airborne division and was awarded a Bronze Star for my work in 1990-1991. The medical care that all health systems in Minnesota have is second to none. I am proud to be part of that.
Outside of work, my life is centered around our Christian faith. I have been married for 40 years and I have 6 adult children. My hobbies include running, hiking and enjoying the great outdoors.
