What I Do

As a family practice provider, I work with my patients to help them achieve their health goals. My clinical interests are in disease prevention and management. I believe in providing patients with a holistic approach to care which focuses on health of the mind, body and soul.

Why I Love My Work

I became a Nurse Practitioner after working as a nurse for 13 years in various roles. My desire to provide a higher level of care with a focus on disease prevention led me to pursue a career in family medicine. I enjoy working with my patients to help them understand their options and make choices that improve their health.

Getting to Know Me

I have lived in Central Minnesota my entire life and worked for CentraCare for more than 10 years. My husband and I have four children, we love to be outside and enjoy camping, swimming, boating and four wheeling. Personally, I love to run and I’ve completed marathons, half marathons and 5Ks.

[Certified Nurse Practitioner] Stommes was good. She was open about the diagnosis which I can appreciate. She wasn't 100% but she talked to me so I understood what she was thinking, and if anything else comes up. We had to plan change meds, etc..

Nicole ans her nurses are just the best. In a time where healthcare feels rushed, they take the time to listen to my concerns and take the time to explain the plans/recommendations plus allow me to share my opinion on the plan. Love that I can discuss anything with them and feel seen + heard. I also love how Nicole take the time to look at me when we talk in the visit instead of her just staring at the computer screen all while she still gets everything in thr computer quickly. I actually drive 30 minutes away to see her at her new clinic because the care she provides is worth the extra drive time despite having several other centracare clinics that are closer to my home.

Nicole is the only provider I have had in all my years with the clinic whom I feel actually knows me. I always feel seen and heard. I never feel like she is passing judgment on me. I know that I can be 100% honest with her. She always remembers previous visits and aks how things have been since. Also, Nicole and [...] are an amazing team. I have never felt like I am a number to them. Nicole never acts like she is the smartest person in the room. I feel like an equal with her. She is honestly the reason my mental health is were it is. Nicole is great at taking the time to discuss my concerns and provide options with pros and cons discussed in visit. I never feel rushed and appreciate how she balances taking the time to engage and look at me as the patient while still doing all the work she needs to do on the computer. Not all clinicians are good at this balance but she does great. As a patient it makes me feel seen and heard as well a builds trust with my provider. I don't feel like just a number with Nicole and that she truly cares
