Paul Peterson, MD

Neurology - Interventional

What I Do

My philosophy of care is to compassionately guide my patients in navigating through their illness, provide education on their diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis. My goal is to provide objective coaching on how they may achieve the most optimal outcome for their illness.

My special clinical interests include brain aneurysm evaluation and endovascular treatment, brain arteriovenous malformation evaluation and treatment, diagnostic cerebral angiography, vascular neurology/stroke including endovascular treatment, carotid artery disease and stenting, and the interface between sleep medicine and vascular neurology.

I serve as the Fellowship Director for the St. Cloud Hospital Endovascular Fellowship program.

Why I Love My Work

I developed a love for medicine at a young age from my exposure to medicine and human anatomy from my mother who was a nurse and my father who was a biology teacher. I chose to pursue emergency medicine and later neurology to bridge the gap in the care of emergency neurological vascular diseases.

My favorite part about my job is helping patients maximize their quality of life in the setting of significant neurological illnesses. I enjoy solving problems, using advanced technology, and the variability in the day-to-day practice of medicine.

Getting to Know Me

Outside of work, I enjoy photography, including infrared, high dynamic range, and drone photography, oil painting, boating, viticulture and enology, and offshore fishing.

I completed medical school on an Air Force Health Professions scholarship and completed eight years of service with the United States Air Force. I was honorably discharged with the rank of Major in 2003.
