Why I Chose CentraCare for Residency: CentraCare has longitudinal learning experiences and I felt this would really help me learn the fundamentals and become an expert at rural and primary care. They offered different elective learning experiences in different settings that I was interested in such as the Heart and Vascular Center. Lastly, weekends off sounded great! I felt it would give me time to recharge and prepare for the next week.

Amanda Smith, PharmD: CentraCare - Paynesville
Pharmacy School: University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
Clinical Interests: My passions involve rural pharmacy and chronic disease management. I grew up in rural Minnesota and experienced the struggle of rural healthcare, especially with people I knew who had chronic diseases. I learned about CentraCare through a rural pharmacy elective at school, was inspired by their commitment to making rural life healthier and knew that they could help me achieve my goals of helping rural communities.
Personal Interests: I enjoy quilting and cross stitching. I have been trying to learn how to crochet as well! Something great about the Paynesville/St. Cloud area, is that it has a lot of great quilt stores nearby!
Career Goals: I hope to become BCACP certified and practice in MTM/ambulatory care pharmacy in rural communities, working with other healthcare providers to bridge the healthcare gaps for those communities.
Why I Chose CentraCare for Residency: I chose CentraCare due to their commitment to making rural life healthier. I knew through their residency program that I would be able to gain the skills that I wanted to help rural communities.
