Wishbone RunThanksgiving is full of traditions. Turkey, pumpkin pie, falling asleep while watching football, etc.

This year, plan to start a new healthy Thanksgiving tradition with the CentraCare Wishbone Walk/Run. A normal person can burn between 800 and 1000 calories per hour when running. So starting Thanksgiving with some exercise can go a long way to helping you feel better and less guilty about enjoying your holiday feast later in the day.

Here are some particulars about this year’s Wishbone Run:

Where: The race starts in front of the new St. Cloud Area YMCA and Community Aquatic Center and goes around Whitney Park and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Starting Times:

  • 7:45 a.m. – Warm up with music and entertainment from KCLD
  • 8 a.m. – 1K Kids Fun Run begins
  • 8:15 a.m. – 2 mile and 5K runs begin

Registration: The cost is $5 per individual or $10 per family. Family pricing includes up to four immediate family members only, but you can add extra family members for an additional cost.

You can register on Thanksgiving morning, but for the best experience — we recommend registering ahead of time.

Register Now!

Packet Pick Up: Packet pick up will be at the YMCA on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 2 to 7 pm. We highly recommend participants pick up their race materials at this time.

For those who have no other alternative, race day packet pick up is available starting at 6:45 a.m.

Strollers: You may participate in the Wishbone Run with your child and stroller, but please line up toward the back of the starting area to give all runners, joggers and walkers more room.

Childcare: The YMCA’s Kid Zone will be open during the Wishbone Run! If you child is between 6 weeks and 11 years old, your child can play in Kid Zone while you take part in the race — as long as you register in advance.

Only 60 children will be allowed in the Kid Zone during the race and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you are a YMCA member with the Kids Zone included in your membership, it will be free to register your child. For all others (including those who are not members of the YMCA) the cost will be $5 per child. The money raised will go to support the Bernicks Family Fitness Series. To make a reservation for your child in the Kid Zone, please call 320-253-2664.
